The Indian Navy has initiated a process to start a new batch of candidates to enter in Short Service Commission. The course for the new batch will start in January 2023. The Indian Navy has started to prepare an entrance examination for the selection of new candidates. The selected candidates will be placed in various branches/cadres as per their qualifications and interest.

Any Indian citizen who is willing to join this Indian Navy entry Special Naval Orientation course can register himself through the prescribed online application form. The Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala will commence the earlier mentioned course. Willing Indian citizens will have to complete and submit their application on or before 12th March 2022.

Qualification Details

General Service [GS(X)]/Hydro Cadre (Men) – 

Any Indian citizen willing to participate in the selection test for the above branch must have passed a B.E./B. Tech Degree in any discipline from a recognized institution/university. 

Naval Armament Inspectorate Cadre (NAC) (Men & Women) – 

Any Indian citizen willing to participate in the selection test for the above branch must have passed a B.E./B. Tech Degree in any of the notified disciplines with a minimum of 60% marks from a recognized institution/university. 

Air Traffic Controller (ATC) (Men & Women) – 

Any Indian citizen willing to participate in the selection test for the above branch must have passed a B.E./B. Tech Degree in any of the notified disciplines with a minimum of 60% marks from a recognized institution/university. 

Observer (Men) – 

Any Indian citizen willing to participate in the selection test for the above branch must have passed a B.E./B. Tech Degree in any of the notified disciplines with a minimum of 60% marks from a recognized institution/university. 

Pilot (Men) – 

Any Indian citizen willing to participate in the selection test for the above branch must have passed a B.E./B. Tech Degree in any of the notified disciplines with a minimum of 60% marks from a recognized institution/university. 

Logistics (Men) – 

Any Indian citizen willing to participate in the selection test for the above branch must have any one of the below qualifications from a recognized institution/university. 

(i) BE/B.Tech in any discipline with First Class or (ii) MBA with First Class, or (iii) B.Sc / B.Com / B.Sc.(IT) with First class along with PG Diploma in Finance / Logistics / Supply Chain Management / Material Management, or (iv) MCA / M.Sc (IT) with First Class

NCC Candidates

The candidates who hold an NCC C certificate will get relaxation in cut-off marks towards shortlisting for SSB in the following conditions.

The NCC C certificate of Naval/Army/ Air Wing should be the minimum of grade B.

The holders should not serve less than 2 years in the Senior division of the Naval/Army/Air Wing of the NCC.

The certificate should not be issued before 30 June 2018.

The verification of the certificate by DG NCC forward/concerned NCC unit for its authenticity.

Tenure of Commission

The qualified and selected candidates will be granted Short Service Commission. The initial tenure of commission for 10 years, which is also extendable by a maximum of four years. The extension will be for two terms in 2 years plus two years of a pattern. 

Selection Procedure

The applications of the candidates will be shortlisted based on normalized marks. The normalized marks will be obtained from the marks of the candidates in their qualifying degree using formulae on the Join Indian Navy Official website.

Medical

Candidates recommended by SSB will have to undergo a medical examination. This is one of the necessary steps for SSB-recommended candidates.
